Pool Landscaping Ideas

In our modern world our outdoor space has become an extension of our home. This is space that is enjoyed by the entire family and what a better way to enjoy it then with a pool and here are some terrific pool landscaping ideas.

The pool is a great start to your backyard décor but there is so much more such as decking, lighting, and plants. Let’s start with the deck.

There are many different pool deck styles to choose from but a deck that is level with the top of the pool works great and looks great. A deck that goes completely around the pool looks fantastic! It gives ample room for entertaining around the pool, it adds the finishing look to the pool itself and it’s easy to decorate.

Once you’ve got the deck installed it’s time to think about patio furniture. Chaise lounge chairs are a must so that you can stretch out, relax, and soak up some rays. There are plenty of different chaise styles

And of course a table and chairs is also needed. Size will depend on your deck size. If you have a limited amount of space then a bistro set is perfect. Lots of room then go big and include an umbrella an escape out of the sun.

Now you need to add some plants. Tropical plants are of course the best choice. Palm trees and ferns look great. Now if you live in a climate where these plants won’t be able to survive the winter outside you will have to have a place to store these plants, otherwise consider silk plants. Today’s silk plants look very real and will fool almost anyone. In fact you can plant them in real dirt to give them an even more authentic look.

Once you’ve got your greenery figured out you need to consider lighting. Some of the most relaxing swim time is late in the evening but you want to be able to do it safely. And sometimes those parties can extend into the wee hours so you will want two different types of lighting.

You’ll want the bright bold lighting that will light up the entire area for those group get togethers and you will want soft romantic lighting for those more intimate meetings.

Solar lighting is a energy efficient and over the year can save you a bundle of money and there are all kinds of great styles to choose from. The biggest draw back is that if you don’t have enough light during the day to charge them you will be left in the dark at night. This can be a problem in areas where there are many cloudy and rainy days.

Another option is low voltage lights that use regular electricity but are low draw. These work all the time no matter what the weather has to say. The disadvantage is you have to run cable and hide it, and have enough plug ins available.

With your deck in place, your plants and your lighting all completed all that’s left to do is enjoy that pool and of course come up with some new pool landscaping ideas for next season.
